We meet up at the airport hotel of Jakarta where we leave the next morning to the jungles of Borneo to view orang utans on traditional boats. We will breeze through Mount Bromo where our jeep bring us to the view points of at Mount Bromo to photograph the spectacular sunrise over moonlike landscape. Then we head over to Bali where our adventure continues with more landscapes and awakening our visual senses to the Balinese culture.

Apart from the workshops where we work and travel together, there is sufficient rest & recreation time included for your own thing. Or if you prefer, hang out with me for meals, drinks and company. Whatever you decide, is cool for me! The tour is designed to end in Bali where you can choose to extend your stay or travel further with your new friends and photography skills.
The Borneo - Java - Bali photography workshop tour requires us to wake up rather early (oh god....!) and 1 sleepless night. This is when we have the best light and less crowd. However, don't forget that you can always take a siesta during the day!
Needless to say, you'll get better deals for summer the earlier you book your flights.
Day 1. Sunday 20th July
Arrive at your convenience after 1:00 PM to check in at the airport hotel.
5:00 PM – Join us for a welcome drink, where you'll get to know your fellow travelers through a fun ice-breaker session, followed by an introduction to the tour and what’s in store for the days ahead.
A theme for the evening: Early! Enjoy an early dinner and a chance to settle in, as we’ll be starting our adventure bright and early the next morning. The group dinner is optional, so feel free to join or relax as you prefer.
Day 2. Monday 21st July.
Our journey begins with an early morning flight to Pangkalan Bun. After arrival, we’ll take some time to explore the village before boarding our private boat, which will carry us straight to our first photographic encounters with orangutans at the feeding station.
As we drift through the jungle rivers of Borneo, we’ll be treated to the sights and sounds of monkeys and other wildlife. This peaceful river time is also an opportunity to discuss your photography goals and to review approaches and themes we’ll explore throughout the trip.
Over the next three days, we’ll fully disconnect—no 4G or phone signal, just an escape from the digital world to sharpen our focus on nature and photography.
Each evening, we’ll wind down with a candlelit dinner on the boat, listening to the calming sounds of the jungle.
Day 3. Tuesday. 22nd July
We’ll greet the early morning with the soft sounds of the jungle coming to life at sunrise, followed by a nourishing breakfast. Our day’s adventure begins with a journey to Camp Leakey, where a short jungle trek will lead us to incredible encounters with the orangutans.
We’ll take time to review the photos you’ve captured, offering guidance and feedback to help you refine your skills. In the evening, we’ll relax, unwind, and share stories over another candlelit dinner on the boat, soaking in the tranquility of the jungle.
After dinner, we’ll set off for an adventurous night walk in the jungle, searching for the enchanting glow of bioluminescent mushrooms and other small nocturnal wildlife.
Day 4. Wednesday. 23rd July
We’ll begin with a quiet sunrise, accompanied only by the sounds of the jungle, followed by a hearty breakfast. Our day starts with a visit to a ranger camp for more encounters with the remarkable orangutans.
Following lunch, we’ll explore the reforestation efforts at Camp Pesalat and then visit the Dayak village of Sekonyer. We'll take a canoe ride through the serene waterways. During this time, we’ll also review previous photos and begin planning our upcoming shoot at Mount Bromo.
As evening approaches, we’ll cruise through the scenic Napa area. Weather permitting, we may be treated to a dazzling display of fireflies. We’ll end the day with a final candlelit dinner on the boat, savoring our last evening in the heart of the jungle.
Day 5. Thursday 24th July
Our final morning on the boat begins with breakfast, savoring one last peaceful moment on the river.
We’ll then make our way back to the port to meet our transfer to the airport for our flight to Surabaya, where we’ll continue to the breathtaking landscapes of Mount Bromo.
If time permits, we’ll head to the scenic viewpoints for a late-afternoon shoot, capturing the dramatic views as the sun begins to set.
We’ll wrap up the day with an optional group dinner, followed by an early night to recharge for the adventures ahead.
Day 6. Friday 25th July
We’ll depart at 4:00 AM for Mount Bromo, where we’ll witness the stars fade and the majestic sunrise illuminate the plateau.
After a simple breakfast, we’ll head to the airport for our flight to Bali. Upon arrival, our transport will take us to the stunning rice fields of Jatiluwih, arriving just in time to capture the late afternoon light as it transitions into a breathtaking sunset.
We’ll conclude the day with an optional group dinner, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of our surroundings.
Day 7 Saturday 26th July.
We will rise early to shoot the sunrise and wander into the ricefields followed by breakfast.
You'll have the rest of the day free to continue hiking in the rice fields. Or relax and just seclude yourself from the world.
We will take time to review your photos of Mount Bromo and plans for the morning shoot.
Depending on the cloud conditions, we plan a sunset shoot around the area.

Day 8 Sunday 27th July.
Our day begins with an early wake-up call as we head to the serene lakes of Bratan for a tranquil morning mist boat trip. After the boat ride, we’ll visit one of Bali's most revered temples, Bedugal, arriving before the crowds for a quiet, reflective experience.
Following the temple visit, we’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast before exploring the local markets or embarking on a short hike to a nearby waterfall.
By early afternoon, we’ll return to the hotel, where you’ll have free time to wander the nearby rice fields or simply relax with a cup of coffee, soaking in the peaceful surroundings.
After dinner, we’ll gather to review the photos you’ve captured, offering insights and feedback to help you refine your technique and vision.
For those who wish to continue the evening, an optional group dinner is available.
Day 9 Monday 28th July.
Rise early once again if you wish to capture the majestic sunrise over the rice fields one last time, followed by a delicious breakfast.
At 10:00 AM, we’ll depart for Ubud, stopping along the way to visit another important Balinese mother temple. We’ll arrive in Ubud by the afternoon, where you’ll be whisked away on scooters to explore the hidden rice fields of the area.
After the day’s adventures, you’ll have free time to unwind or explore Ubud by night.
An optional group dinner will be available for those who’d like to join in.
Day 10 Tuesday 29th July.
After breakfast, we’ll gather to review your photos and plan for the upcoming day’s shoot, offering personalized feedback and tips.
The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace—whether that means indulging in a relaxing massage, unwinding by the pool, or discovering the beauty of Ubud on your own.
In the evening, you’re invited to join an optional group dinner, followed by the chance to experience one of Ubud’s vibrant cultural dance shows.
Day 11 Wednesday 30th July.
We’ll begin with an early morning departure just after sunrise to the stunning Tegallalang rice fields, followed by a visit to the coffee plantations where you’ll have the chance to taste the famous Luwak coffee along with breakfast.
Next, we’ll head to the sacred water temple. For those interested, you may participate in the water cleansing ceremony for a small donation, a deeply spiritual and rejuvenating experience.
We’ll return to Ubud by early afternoon, giving you some free time to relax or explore at your own pace.
An optional group dinner will be available for those who’d like to join.
Day 12 Thursday 31st July.
Today, take the time to relax and unwind, or if you’re feeling inspired, use your photography skills to capture yogis practicing in the serene rice fields.
In the afternoon, we’ll gather to review your photos one last time, offering feedback and final tips. Afterward, you’ll have ample time to enjoy an aperitif while watching the sun set over the landscape.
To end the day, join us for an optional farewell group dinner, where we can reflect on the journey and share memories.

Day 13 Friday 1st August
We’ll depart early in the morning for the island of Lembongan, arriving at your hotel by late morning, giving you time to relax and enjoy the beach and sunshine.
The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace.

Day 15 Sunday 3rd August
Enjoy your last morning on the beach, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere before we transfer you to the harbor for your afternoon boat ride back to Bali, arriving around 2:00 PM.
Transfers can be arranged for your onward destinations.
This marks the end of your wonderful 15-day trip!
I believe in transparency and accessibility to my workshops and tours. Each of us have personal budgets, different comfort expectations but a common goal of travel photography and great images. Over 13 days, through the workshops and tours, we will explore many photography techniques, improve your photography skills along the way while working together.
Apart from the personal attention you'll be receiving, you will have your own free time. There will be opportunities as well to share costs with fellow photographers and travellers to do other activities not included (optional excursions).
